Daikin Sky Air is a light-commercial split and ducted range. Servicing is an F-gas job: filters, coils, refrigerant integrity, electrics, controls and a written report. It is not a domestic filter vacuum. Book an engineer who knows the range and can still obtain parts.
What Sky Air is
Sky Air sits between domestic wall splits and full VRV. Shops, small offices, studios and restaurants use it. Indoor formats include wall, cassette, ducted and floor. If your plant has a Daikin outdoor the size of a small cupboard and a commercial indoor, you are probably in this family rather than a house Perfera.

What a service visit should do
Indoor filters and coils, outdoor coil, condensate, electrical terminations, operating data, and a leak check at the legally required interval for the charge. Controls: schedules, setbacks, and whether someone has taped over a return. Written defects. If your current contract is a sticker on the outdoor, you do not have a contract.
Restaurant grease and shop-stock dust shorten coil life. Sky Air in a kitchen needs more frequent indoor attention than a dentist's waiting room. Say the use type when you book. Error codes on the controller are useful. Photograph them. Do not reset blindly for a week and then expect a compressor to be under goodwill.
Repairs versus replace
Age, refrigerant type, and parts availability decide. Older R410A Sky Air can still be maintained. A failed compressor on elderly plant may be a replacement outdoor, not a heroic rebuild. Get a written option: repair this year versus replace the system.
Like-for-like Sky Air replacement can reuse pipework if it is clean, sized and pressure-tested. That is an engineering judgement, not a promise in this article. TM44 may apply if the system is over 12 kW. Servicing is not the TM44 certificate.
How to book without the runaround
Model numbers from the indoor and outdoor nameplates, photos, and the fault. Access hours: many Sky Air sites are shops that cannot stop trading at noon.
If you need a new install, say so. Service engineers and install teams are not always the same diary. Use the quote form and write Sky Air plus the building type in the notes.
Frequently asked questions
Can a domestic AC engineer service Sky Air?
If they are F-gas qualified and competent on the range, yes. Many domestic-only engineers will not hold parts accounts or know the controllers. Ask before they travel.
How often should Sky Air be serviced?
At least annually for light use. More in kitchens and dusty stockrooms. Leak-check intervals follow F-gas rules for the charge, not the brochure.
Is Sky Air the same as VRV?
No. VRV and VRF are the larger modular heat-recovery or heat-pump family. Sky Air is light commercial. Mixing the names on a parts order wastes a week.
