How the estimate is built
The calculator follows the July 2026 planning approach in our server room cost guide: a modest IT cupboard with a dedicated cooling-capable split may start around the high hundreds to low thousands of pounds in simpler UK cases, while a small server room with redundant plant, monitoring and electrical works can move into five figures. Higher density and harder access push further.
It starts from a space-type base, adds load above a simple baseline, applies an N+1 allowance when selected, then adds common extras for alarms, electrics, access, airflow measures, landlord constraints and first-year maintenance.
What this does not cover
- Full data-centre halls, CRAC fleets or generator-backed campus plant
- Temporary cooling hire during works
- Major builder openings, fire stopping packages or decorative making-good
- A guaranteed price from any installer
