Mitsubishi heating and air conditioning usually means a reversible Mitsubishi Electric split that cools in summer and heats air in cooler weather. It is an air-to-air heat pump, not a boiler, and it will not normally heat radiators or hot water. Size heating from room heat loss as well as summer gain. Outdoor noise, defrost and condensate in winter need a designed drain. A 'Mitsubishi AC and heater' search is a genuine dual-mode brief, not two appliances glued together.
One indoor unit, two modes
Mitsubishi air conditioner and heater, Mitsubishi heater AC and Mitsubishi heat and air unit queries all describe reversible operation. The same refrigeration circuit reverses. Controls, set points and outdoor conditions decide comfort.
Cooling-only Mitsubishi kit exists. If you need heat, the quote must say reversible and show heating duty at a relevant UK outdoor temperature, not only a cooling kW.
- Ask for heating output at a stated outdoor temperature.
- Plan winter condensate, including defrost water.
- Check outdoor sound in heating, which can differ from cooling.
- Do not assume one wall unit replaces a whole-house boiler.
What it will not do
Domestic hot water, wet radiators, and whole-home heating without a designed multi-indoor or VRF layout. Garden rooms and loft offices are the sweet spot: one zone, both seasons.

Summer glass and winter heat loss can want different kW. The honest system is sized for the harder case, then controlled so it can turn down. Oversizing for heat and hoping cooling will be fine is how bedrooms roar.

Reversible splits have an operating range. Ask the installer for the lowest guaranteed heating temperature of the proposed pair and whether backup heat is needed.
