Haier is a familiar appliance name, and it does sell residential split air conditioners into the UK, often at a lower equipment price than Daikin or Mitsubishi at a similar nominal kW. Knowing the fridge brand does not tell you who will service the outdoor unit in year six. Survey the room, confirm model codes and warranty holder, and use an F-gas certified installer. Thinner specialist coverage is the caution, not a reason to dismiss a properly supported job.
A Haier quote that only says the brand
A Haier domestic quote should still read like any other split quote: indoor model, outdoor model, cooling kW, whether it heats, pipe route, drain and electrical supply. If it only says Haier air conditioning, ask for the codes. Ranges change, and a keen online price may be a different capacity from the one your room needs.
A budget fascia on a lantern kitchen
The survey is the first filter. A budget fascia does not cool a lantern kitchen. Match the duty, then decide whether the saving is worth a less familiar parts counter. Residential splits exist in the UK at a lower equipment tier. They are not only commercial plant.
Who carries a Haier board on the van
Firms that live on Daikin and Mitsubishi may not carry Haier boards on the van. Ask before you sign.

- Warranty follows the company that registers the system.
- Get parts responsibility in writing.
- GOV.UK F-gas certification covers the refrigerant circuit.
Where a Haier advantage does and does not show
Some firms will still install and maintain Haier if they have a distributor behind them. A machine can be perfectly serviceable and still be the wrong buy if nobody local will attend. That is a practical constraint, not an insult to the product.
As a 2026 illustration, expect any Haier advantage to show on the equipment line of a single-split job. Brackets, core holes, trunking, a pump and a consumer-unit way cost about the same as they do for a Sensira. London access can erase the hardware gap entirely. Energy Saving Trust is the plain description of air-to-air heat pumps if this unit is also the heating. The Planning Portal is the outdoor-unit check, separate from the sticker price.
Sound figures for this size only
State the rooms, heating or cooling or both, and that you want the warranty holder and a parts contact named. Ask for sound figures on the exact size. Leave SEER claims that lack a model code off the decision. Invite a second price at the same kW from a brand local engineers already know, so the support difference has a number on it.
When the keen Haier price is the wrong comparison
Do not compare a 2.5 kW Haier price with a 3.5 kW Mitsubishi price and call it a like-for-like win. Different duties are different products. A lower price does not automatically mean a lower energy label. Read the label for the exact model and size on the quote. Do not copy a rating from another capacity or from an advert with no model code. Haier sells home wall units as well as larger equipment. A house still needs a surveyed kW and a lawful outdoor position. Commercial plant is a different specification.
