LG DualCool is the mainstream residential wall split: Dual Inverter, heating and cooling, 230 V, with ThinQ on many current models. It is the ordinary white indoor, not the Artcool designer face. Buy it when an LG installer will survey the room, match the outdoor unit and register the warranty. Compare kW, sound and seasonal efficiency with Daikin or Mitsubishi quotes for the same wall. Do not confuse it with a US LG window unit.
DualCool, not Artcool and not a US window unit
DualCool is LG's standard reverse-cycle wall range for homes. Artcool is the design line, including mirror and gallery styles. Both can be quiet, efficient splits. DualCool is the one to price when you want the performance without paying for a statement fascia. Cooling capacity depends on the kW step, not on the premium face. Current UK models are built for 230 V, 50 Hz and use R32. A listing that shows 115 V, a window chassis, or a US energy label is a different product that happens to carry the LG name.
Ask whether the quote is DualCool or Artcool. Confirm ThinQ or remote control on the exact code if you want the app. Match the outdoor unit to the indoor. Do not mix brands. Read SEER and SCOP for your size, not the best figure in the brochure. Indoor sound at low fan, outdoor sound, heating output in cold weather, and the energy label for the pair are the comparison. DualCool competes directly with other mainstream wall units. Installer coverage is the practical difference: fewer UK firms lead with LG than with Daikin or Mitsubishi, so parts familiarity and warranty support should be stated. A strong local LG installer is a good reason to buy DualCool. A low price from a company that does not commission LG is not. It heats in a UK winter when the pair is the reverse-cycle model on the quote. Check heating output at low outdoor temperatures if the room depends on it.
Domestic rooms, pipes and a neighbour's window
Bedrooms and living rooms in the normal 2.0 to 5.0 kW steps are the domestic fit. Open-plan glass can need more than one indoor. DualCool does not change heat gain. It delivers the kW you specify, in the room where you put it. The install is still pipes, a drain, electrics and an outdoor unit. F-gas certification applies. You cannot fit DualCool yourself. The refrigerant circuit needs an F-gas certified installer, and the electrical supply needs a competent electrician. In England, site the outdoor unit against Planning Portal heat pump conditions and the neighbour's windows.
Say you want DualCool priced against one other mainstream brand at the same kW and the same outdoor position. Ask for model codes, pipe length, condensate method and warranty years. If the wall is a feature and you are choosing LG for the look, switch the conversation to Artcool and compare that fascia at the same capacity. Do not pay Artcool money for a DualCool indoor, or the reverse, because the paperwork only said LG.
