Toshiba Seiya is the value wall indoor in Toshiba's UK residential range. It is a 230 V reverse-cycle split for straightforward rooms, with fewer design extras than Haori and fewer mid-range features than Shorai. Buy it when a Toshiba installer will commission it, register the warranty and support parts. Judge it on kW, sound and the outdoor position, not on the entry price alone.
Seiya, then Shorai, then Haori
Toshiba's UK wall units run from Seiya at the value end, through Shorai, up to design-led indoors such as Haori. Seiya still heats and cools. Current domestic pairs are R32 and need a matched Toshiba outdoor unit. Commercial cassettes and VRF are a different catalogue. Choose Seiya when the room needs honest capacity and a simple controller, and the installer actually carries Toshiba.
Confirm the indoor and outdoor model codes. Read sound data for your kW step, not a smaller size. Ask for SEER, SCOP and the heating output in cold weather. Keep the warranty registration with the F-gas record. Smaller Seiya indoors can be quiet on a low fan. Larger capacities move more air and the published sound rises. The chassis is a normal wall indoor, so measure the wall. Tight piers and low bulkheads sometimes need a shorter body from another series. Do not force a standard chassis into a gap the drain and the pipes cannot leave cleanly.
Pipes, power and a Planning Portal outdoor unit
Pipe length, insulation, a drain with fall or a pump, a dedicated electrical supply and an outdoor unit with airflow and service access are still the install. F-gas rules apply. Planning in England follows the Planning Portal air source heat pump conditions for many houses. The Seiya badge does not remove those. Compare a Seiya quote with a Daikin Sensira or Mitsubishi HR quote at the same kW and the same outdoor wall. The better local installer, and the clearer warranty, often matter more than a small gap on the equipment list.

Is Toshiba Seiya good enough for a UK bedroom?
Often yes for a guest or secondary bedroom at the right kW. Check the low-fan sound figure for the main bedroom before you decide whether to step up.
Can Seiya heat as well as cool?
Yes on current reverse-cycle pairs. Read the heating capacity at a low outdoor temperature if you will rely on it.
Will any Toshiba outdoor unit run a Seiya indoor?
No. Use a matched pair or a compatible multi-split outdoor from the current combination list. The installer should write both codes.
When is Haori the Toshiba to price?
If the wall is on show and you want a fabric finish, Haori is the design conversation. If you want a higher specification while staying with Toshiba, ask the installer to price Shorai against Seiya for the same room and explain the difference in writing.
Will a higher Toshiba series fix a small kW?
No. Do not step up the series to fix an undersized kW. Change the capacity first. A premium fascia at 2.5 kW will not hold a glazed living room that needs 5 kW.
Is a low Seiya price useful if nobody can commission it?
No. A low equipment price from a company that cannot commission the brand is not a saving. Buy it when a Toshiba installer will commission it, register the warranty and support parts.
