Paintable trunking is a cosmetic choice for the plastic cover over refrigerant lines and condensate. It can be decorated to sit closer to the wall colour if the paint system suits that plastic. It does not remove the need to open the run and find a water leak or an oily joint. Specify lids that can come off, insulation that stays continuous, and a route an engineer can reach. Paint that has to move with the plastic
White PVC trunking is the usual UK cover on a short external or internal run. It can often be cleaned and painted with a system meant for that plastic, sometimes after a suitable primer. Ask the decorator, not the brochure, whether the paint they use will stick and move with the plastic in sun. Colour match will be close, not perfect, once the plastic weathers.
Ask for the trunking size that fits insulated pipes and the drain without crushing them, a paintable or already coloured lid if the wall needs it, and fixings that allow a section to be removed. Lids that lift when a joint weeps
Condensate leaks and refrigerant oil show up at joints, at the indoor connection, and at low points. If the trunking is screwed or clipped so a section lifts, those marks can be found. If it is bonded, foamed, or skimmed into the wall, the first sign is a ceiling stain two rooms away. Insulation on the copper has to stay complete or the pipes sweat inside the trunking and mimic a blocked drain. A painter who cuts the lid tight and seals every seam with mastic has hidden the next service visit. Leave the lids mechanical.
